Simi Valley Public Library Celebrates New Wheels for services

Simi Valley Public Library launched a new engine for reading Tuesday: its own mobile library.

The suped-up van will bring books and other media to residents across the city as a “Library on the Go.” The community celebrated the colorful mobile library Tuesday with a ribbon cutting, tours and refreshments.

The van is expected to visit schools, food pantries, senior living facilities, parks and the Free Clinic of Simi Valley on a regular basis.

The city funded the estimated $140,000 van with the help of a donation from the estate of Lynne C. Eigler, according to city documents.
