RivCo, CA Residents Can Access 300K Free E-Books, Audio Books Through Palace Library App

RIVERSIDE COUNTY — Every Riverside County resident with an email address and an internet connection can now visit California’s Bookshelf to access more than 300,000 eBooks and eAudiobooks.

Previously, readers had to log in through the Riverside County library system to use their library card and access ebooks available on that library’s eBookshelf. With California’s Bookshelf, access to a vast collection is just a few clicks away, California State Librarian Greg Lucas said.

California’s Bookshelf site gives readers instant access to over 300,000 eBooks and e-Audiobooks and over 70,000 unique titles.

Lucas says over 3,500 titles are available with no wait times or hold queues. Each downloaded audio and e-book will be automatically returned from your app in 14 days, so there will be no more library late fees. In Riverside County, Kim Pike, branch manager of the Sun City branch, has coordinated the Palace grant for the Riverside County Library System.

“Libraries are palaces for the people, and with the Palace app, your newest e-reading experience, you can access the library’s e-books in one simple app.” The app allows readers to download thousands of free books in Riverside County’s Library System, or from the statewide California Library System using the Palace Bookshelf, as well as exclusive titles available only to Palace members.”

To use the Palace app, log in and select your local or county library and California’s Bookshelf.

“Now you’ll not only have access to all the materials in California’s Bookshelf but also all the eBooks and audiobooks in your local library’s collection,” Lucas explained.

“With just a few clicks, any Californian can go and grab what they’re looking for on California’s Bookshelf,” Lucas said. “Trust me, we’ve tried to make something for every reader.”

Indeed, when you log in and select your library, you can browse any number of authors or titles in a wide variety of genres, from nonfiction to fiction, high fantasy to epics. (See the full explanation below.)

“From your home, a coffee shop, or while traveling, you will always be connected to convenience with this new virtual library bookshelf. Did I mention it’s free?”

California’s Bookshelf has thousands of eBooks and eAudiobooks in multiple genres and over 20 languages.

The eBookshelf is a partnership with the Palace Project. It provides access to digital content using the Palace app.
